Since it was founded more than 20 years ago, B&W has been committed to making it possible for truck owners to use their vehicles every day regardless of the need for towing. Traditionally, the 5th Wheel Hitch uses the in-bed rail system to attach the hitch to the frame.
The rails are both cumbersome and not particularly flexible, though, so this wasn't an ideal solution. The Companion from B&W is an accessory that allows truck owners to use the Turnover Ball hitch as the mounting system, eliminating the frustration of traditional 5th wheel hitches and the rail system. As a result, no additional holes beyond the 4" round are required and there is no drilling.
When ordering the Companion, you'll receive two boxes - the base and the coupler for the system. Two upright arms will need to be attached with 8 bolts for the Companion with one post attached with two U-bolts. This process takes only 10 minutes from opening the boxes to completion of the installation.
The Turnover Ball system is an underbed mounted solution to the ball system that doesn't require welding, drilling, or bed removal and can be installed in less than an hour. The Companions requires this system, for which there is a compatible option for nearly every major truck make and model.

B&W part # 3300 is a fifth wheel hitch that
is designed to mount to the Reese Elite Series rail kit which is the factory OEM
hitch that (some) Ford Super Duty trucks come equipped with. Just like the
factory Ford hitch the B&W OEM Companion mounts inside of the bed using the four
puck locations with a quick release lever but has all the great features many
B&W Companion owners have grown accustomed to. The head offers full
articulation, has cam action latching handle to lock the 1" thick wrap-around
jaws, and is supported on polyurethane bushings for a smooth rattle free ride.
B&W's OEM Companion offers three mounting positions which can add up to two
inches of extra cab clearance as well.
